Advanced Placement at El Paso High School

Advanced Placement courses are comparable to first-year college courses, so your student has the opportunity to develop college-level academic skills with the ultimate goal of earning college credit.  In addiction, having AP classes on their transcript will show universities that your student has experience with the academic rigor of college classes.

AP Research 
​College Course Equivalent AP Research is an interdisciplinary course that encourages students to demonstrate critical thinking and academic research skills on a topic of the student’s choosing. To accommodate the wide range of student topics, typical college course equivalents include introductory research or general elective courses.

UT OnRamps

OnRamps offers semester- and year-long college-credit bearing courses, designed by The University of Texas at Austin faculty, to give students a chance to experience college before college and prepare them for the academic and social expectations of higher education.
We partner with school districts to bring OnRamps courses to their campuses. Courses are delivered through a dual enrollment model, which means students are enrolled in both a high school course, led by a high school teacher, taught on the campus, and a college course, led by a faculty member or college instructor of record, taught online.

OnRamps Rhetoric + Writing
In these two sequential, semester-long courses you’ll explore rhetorical analysis, research contemporary issues, and demonstrate your persuasive skills through essays in a variety of genres that receive professional, personalized feedback from experts in the field. You and your classmates will actively participate in an open exchange of ideas and learn how to understand and fairly represent different viewpoints—skills that will prepare you for leadership in college and beyond!
